How do you make a stuffed animal soft again?

My younger friend brought two pillow pets to my house. One big one small. They are both pigs. She put them on the ground and then accidentally spilled lemonade on them. We didnt want them to get crusty so we put them in a pillow case, safty pinned it shut and put it in the wash. We dried them too. When we were done drying them though, the fur was curly and they weren't very soft. Brushing them took the curls away but they still arent soft. how do you make them soft?? PLZ HELP
