I want to add female bettas to my male betta tank.?

It's a relatively large tank for betta fish, 55 gallons. I want to make my male betta's dreams come true and add at least 20 females. In a planted 55 gallon tank, with hiding spots, can I pull this off? Will the aggression be spread out enough?
