Help with Orkut made by google!?

i want a new social networking site to just meet random people (not sexually, like dating and stuff like that) just to talk about interests and stuff like that with, i dont want facebook oy myspace, or tumblr, but a site like tumblr or w.e. i found orkut, but i dont understand how to just make friends with random people, i don't want to seem like a creep i just want new friends! that arent real life friends, is orkut a good site for that?
