Help with iphone 4 problem icon menu is all gone?

somehow when i plug my iphone 4 and did something on my laptop that has nothing to do with iphone. i was downloading ringtone and somehow when i was checking my phone some buttons didnt work so i turned it off and then turn it back on n theres no icon to click except some apps that i downloaded. the call, contact, message, safari, cam, photo, youtube, etc that already came on with the phone icons arent there to click or use. how can i fix this problem/ help please i tried restoring the entire iphone through itune which is going to take up to 3 to 4 hrs and before that i tried backing up from the date i first purchase the phone it didnt work but not trying to restoring the whole phone but its going to take up so much hr is there any other way to fix it?
